These repeated movements can place a heavy demand on your back, causing injury. The third type is inactivity. Sitting at a desk all day can contribute to back pain, especially if you have poor posture or are sitting somewhere with inadequate back support.

How To Prevent Back Pain At Work

The first tip is to pay attention to your posture, as having bad posture is one of the leading causes of back pain. Try not to slouch and stand with your weight evenly on both feet. When sitting down, adjust your chair so that your feet rest flat on the floor and remove anything from your back pockets so you are sitting evenly. If you’re sitting for long periods of time, make sure to change your position often and periodically walk around.

If you have to carry objects a lot in your day job, you need to make sure you’re using a proper lifting technique. Get close to the object, bend your knees and use your leg muscles to support your body. Do not simply lean over and lift the object and try not to twist when lifting. Once lifted try to hold the object as close to your body as possible. If an object is too heavy to lift, make sure you ask for help, as lifting too heavy objects will put a strain on your back.
